We recently powder coated a batch of street sign posts for the town of Brownsburg. The proccess started with a light blast to etch the galvanizing. We then applied a high gloss black polyester powder coat finish the the sign posts to give them a nice shiny look and extra corrosion protection.
Pace Performance Coatings was commissioned to coat a bulk-order of trash cans that were decaying, rusting, and nearing the end of their usable lives. Originally, the owner of the cans planned to purchase new cans altogether and decommissioning the current ones. As each new can costs $900, the client was in search of a more cost-effective alternative. That's where Pace Performance Coatings comes in.
Pace Performance Coating's industrial powder coating methods were a perfect solution for this project. Using a functional thermoplastic coating, Pace Performance Coatings extended the longevity of the receptacles by around 25 years in just one week. All the cans received the same production process from start to finish in order to simplify the project.
The industrial powder coating process begins by burning the old paint off of the cans to expose the bare metal. After burning off as much as possible, the parts moved into the sandblasting room to strip off the remaining paint residue. Next, Pace Performance Coatings used a high-quality thermoplastic coat and prepared it for the oven. Once the parts completed the 30-40 minutes needed in the oven, the temperature of their coat was held at 320°F for two minutes. After reaching room temperature, the coat's thickness was measured along the parts' surfaces to ensure proper weather and corrosion resistance.
Finally, after Pace Performance Coatings verified the quality and coat thickness, the cans were placed in their designated locations. The cans are expected to be in usable condition for another 25-years or so, increasing the overall ROI of the products. Need a powder coating partner for your own industrial project? Contact us now.
